Day 1: Arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Air port

Meet and greet you FANOS Ethiopia Tours representative at exit of luggage claim and transfer you to the hotel.You will have an early breakfast and depending on your choice your first visit in Addis Ababa will be the Merkato, the largest open market in Africa. Or follow your program. In the evening, you will have dinner at the hotel and you will rest. Overnight stay in Bole Ambassador Hotel, Addis Ababa.

Dalol

Day 2: Fly to Mekelle and drive to Hamed Ela (210 Km from Mekele) via Berehale

Early morning, a short flight will take you to Mekelle. Upon arrival, you will be met by our tour guides, drive to a hotel where you will start journey to Dankile Depression via Berehale (150 Km from Mekelle, here you will pick up Police scouts, road guides and permits to the Dallol & active volcano).

The landscape dramatically changes & the altitude drop from 2,220 m asl to below sea level. On the way you will enjoy the camel caravans of the local Afar nomad. You will arrive in Hamed Ela late in the afternoon. Overnight stay in camping Hamed Ela.

Day 3: Excursion to Dallol Depression

Right after breakfast, an early morning drive will take you to Dallol (15 Km from Hamed Ela) crossing the largest salt composition depression where you will visit Lake Asale, Salt excavating area on traditional way, Camel Caravan and hot spring waters. Early in the afternoon drive back to Hamed Ela for lunch. In the afternoon rest, relax, and discover the surrounding village of Hamed Ela. Overnight stay in camping Hamed Ela.

Day 4: Drive to Kusurawde to visit Earta Ale, Active Volcano

You will have breakfast & drive to Erta ale via Kusurawde (85 km from Hamed Ela) and continue drive to Dodom (21 Km from Kusurawde), a nearby settlement to Erta ale (the Erta Ale volcano has been in a constant state of eruption).

As the sun sets, we leave behind the jeeps and set out for a three hour hike, accompanied by a camel caravan carrying gear and water, to the edge of Mount Ertale. After the hike, back to camp and a bit of breakfast, you’ll drive back to Mekelle.

Day 5: Drive to Mekelle

You will be driven to Mekelle via the small towns of Habala and Erepti, (240 Km from Earta Ale) right after breakfast. You will in Mekelle early/mid afternoon. Then you will check into a hotel. In the afternoon follow your own program. Overnight stay in Axum Hotel, Mekelle.

Day 6: Flight back to Addis Ababa

After a relaxed breakfast, a flight will bring you back to Addis Ababa. You will arrive in Addis Ababa midday/early afternoon where you will do some shopping for souvenirs. Finally you will be taken to a farewell dinner depending on your scheduled flight; you will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home.

Rate: 2,220 USD per person (Two Thousand Two Hundred Twenty USD) for 3 pax
