 Summary: The Simien Mountains Massif, also known as “The roof of Africa”, with the snow covered peak of Mount Ras Deshen. This mountain is 4,543 meters high and is the fourth highest peak in the continent. It is suitable for trekking and home of endemic Walia Ibex, Ethiopian wolf and different species of birds.

Day 1: Flight to Gonder & drive to Simien Mountains National Park

Early morning, a short flight will take you to Gondar. Upon arrival, you will be met by our tour driver. Then drive to Debark (100 Km from Gonder) finish formalities at the Head Quarter of the park at Debarq and continue to drive another 20km then make a short walk/trek and spend the day visiting the Simien Mountains National Park (registered by UNESCO as a world heritage site, with endemic & mammals, birds, natural vegetation, & wonderful landscape). You will have lunch in Debark.

Later late in the afternoon check to the lodge. Then you will have dinner and stay the night in the lodge.  Overnight Simien Lodge, Simien Park.

 

Day 2: Drive to Chenek and back to Gonder

Right after breakfast, an early morning drive will take you to Chenek (25 Km from Simien Lodge). Chenek is the third camp site that offers superb views across to the opposite escarpment and the prominent peak of Imet Gogo (3,926 meter above sea level). Later in the late afternoon drive back to Gonder.

 

Optional Excursions: Early in the evening, after dinner you will visit ‘Azmari Bet’ at Traditional Music Houses after which you will back to the hotel and stay there for the night. Overnight stay in Goha or Taye Belay hotel, Gonder.

 

 

Day 3: Flight back to Addis Ababa and departure

After a relaxed breakfast, a short flight will take you back to Addis Ababa. You will arrive in Addis Ababa in the afternoon where you will do some shopping for souvenir.

Finally you will be taken to a farewell dinner depending on your scheduled flight; you will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home.
